As time passed by, Philipp worked on renewable energy projects in South Africa & Europe within the last 2 years and identified the potential of vertical farming, as living in cities or urban environments will create a new challenge for the next decades. Vertico was created to be a platform for young enthusiasts, solving issues in green technology.

Christian Spier
Co-Founder of VERTICO & Biologist 


With his study in Biology and Computer Sciences, Christian adds know-how to the project that is elementary for professional horticultural management. Due to his expertise in R&D, Informatics and Finance, Christian also cares about the scientific equation of our research.

Philipp Hagenlocher
Technologist & Developer

Without the technical skills to create an automated system for indoor food production, Vertico would not be, what it is today. With experience in micro-controller programming and sensor technology, Philipp brings Vertico to the technological level that is necessary to build an economically viable business application. From his study in Computer Sciences, Philipp brings technical expertise to the project.

Lcation: 

As all three of Vertico's current project developers are students, the brainwork takes place at the Technical University of Munich in Germany. Our future lab and R&D space for testing the prototype will be placed in the surrounding facility of the Universities high-tech Agricultural and Life Science campus in Weihenstephan (Dürnast) near Freising, where access to high-end horticultural research facility is granted.
